It was hot and steamy that morning -- and it did not get any better throughout the day. The South wind should have tipped me off -- but I was a relative newcomer, so I had to learn the hard way: the South Wind brings trouble!

The evening TV programs shared the screen with weather warnings, but soon it got serious as all programming stopped and the weather took central stage. Just about the time the tornado sirens went off here in Wichita, I heard the meteorologist say that Oklahoma City had been hit - then we lost power. That is when a tornado stuck Haysville and South Wichita -- a short 2 blocks from my house. Below is the tornado's path.....and here is the Aftermath. You can see that by the time it came into South Wichita, it was an F4.
